BIO
Ludovico Colombo is an Italian cellist based in London. After studying cello in his hometown, Varese, he was admitted to the Pre-College department of the Swiss 'Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana' in Lugano, intended for exceptional young musical talents. There, he studied with Taisuke Yamashita, Mattia Zappa, and became the principal cellist of the Orchestra d’Archi Giovanile Della Svizzera Italiana (OAGSI), one of the leading youth string orchestras in Switzerland. In the same conservatoire, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance in the class of Monika Leskovar.
His passion for sharing music with young learners brought him to attend an MA in Music Education and Performance at Trinity Laban, where he was awarded two scholarships upon admission. He studied in the class of David Cohen, principal cellist of the LSO. At the same time, he fostered his passion for chamber music by forming and joining several groups, from duos to quintets. With his piano quintet, he was selected for the Carne Trust Mentorship Programme, awarded by Trinity Laban to exceptional chamber groups. During, and after, his studies at Trinity Laban, he had the chance to attend chamber music projects with Rivka Golani, who highly influenced Ludovico's musical character. He performed in renowned London venues, including Wigmore Hall, The Chapel of the Old Royal Naval College, St James’s Piccadilly, Southward Cathedral, and the British Museum. He regularly plays with orchestras and chamber music groups in the UK, Italy, and Spain.
Ludovico is a dedicated cello teacher with experience in teaching pupils of different ages and abilities. He works for Haringey Music Service, Suzuki Hub, Lewisham Music Saturday Centre, St Helen’s School and has a thriving private studio.
